After the Shattering, Sosaria was a broken and ruined place. The great kings of men had fallen and their kingdoms were wiped from the face of the world, leaving behind the buried ruins of a dead civilization. The races of Sosaria were driven underground and became divided and leaderless; the heroes of yore were but a whispered memory.
And yet there is hope. Those who survived the Shattering have emerged to rebuild the ancient kingdoms of lore. The Siege Perilous has opened during this age of rebirth, bringing forth new adventurers and champions from other realms into our shattered lands. Called the Chosen by the Seers and Prophets, their role in the tale of Shattered Sosaria has yet to be written.

Shattered Sosaria takes place centuries after the casting of the Armageddon spell destroyed all life on the surface. It is a time of rebuilding, as the scattered survivors begin to repopulate the planet. It is a time when intelligent races were widespread, magic flourished, ancient ruins and artifacts waited to be rediscovered, and the gods were still remembered and worshipped.

Players will be able to choose from several different races and professions, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Will you ally yourself with the forces of darkness and seek to conquer the realm, or strive to become the Avatar of legend who will one day lead the darkened world of Shattered Sosaria back into the light? Shattered Sosaria is not just another UO server. While maintaining a healthy level of dragon slaying and zombie hunting is important, we believe that plot, dialogue, a robust back-story, and a sense of community are all central to the success of any UO server. Thus our server is oriented around fellowship, and focused on roleplaying and adventure. Our game is based in the Ultima mythos and makes liberal use of the history, characters, places, and events from the Ultima games upon which Ultima Online is based - but with a twist that is uniquely our own. Shattered Sosaria features regular in-game quests and a complex, involving storyline in which your character's actions can truly affect the game world.

Shattered Sosaria uses a unique custom map that is over twice the size of the standard Britannia map, with new areas to explore being added constantly.
